Born February 24, 1917, in Lenox Twp., he was the son of the late William and Beatrice Winters Ransom. His wife was the former Ann Rosencrants, whom he married on June 5, 1937, and who passed away in 1981. They started dairy farming with nothing except their four hands and made a lifetime success of their business.
He loved to hunt and fish and said he could never remember a time when he didn't have a dog. Paul loved the Lord Jesus and was fond of saying, "How could anyone not believe when you see the sun come up in the morning and move across the sky and set in the West at night; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Paul is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Darling and husband, Paul; three grandchildren, Mark and wife, Hazel; Jill Williams, who took care of him with love for the four years he was sick, and her husband, Wayne; and Eric Darling and wife, Maryellen; nine great-grandchildren, Cole, Katie and Caleb Darling; Janna Williams Conoway, Kelsey Williams, Ben Williams, Rebecca Darling, Sarah Darling and Isaac Darling.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Robert and Duane; and a sister, Maryellen.
Paul had several great caring caregivers, and his last one, Mark Licayan, who was his "Buddy."
