His wife is Bess O’Malley Rynearson and they have been married 29 years.
Born in Kingsley, he is the son of the late Lee and Estella Dailey Rynearson.
Merl was a World War II Army Veteran serving 5 ½ years; 2 ½ in Europe with the 109th Field Artillery.
After returning home he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for PennDot and Masters Construction. He was a member of Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 and Harford Masonic Lodge 445.
An avid poultry fancier, Merl raised show chickens and was honored at the Harford Fair in 2010 for showing chickens for 85 years.
Merl is also survived by two nieces, Ann Patterson and Mary Rossi, and several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth, and a brother, Clifton.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00am in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson with services by Rev. Roland Roming.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Tower Cemetery, West Lenox.
There will be a viewing Wednesday from 7-9pm.
