Audrey May Harman Spadine, of West Nicholson, passed away Thursday morning surrounded by her devoted family after a year long battle with cancer. Her husband is Eugene “Jigger” Spadine, they have been married for 41 years. Born February 13th, 1942 in Harrisburg, Audrey is the daughter of the late George and Fay Rudy Harman. Prior to retirement, she was a caring nurse at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock for 27 years. She was a loyal member of the West Nicholson United Methodist Church and the Loyalty Society. She also taught Sunday school and Bible school. She encouraged others with her courageous struggle and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Audrey is also survived by four sons, Mark Spadine and wife Laurie; Tal Spadine, Ryan Spadine and companion Laura Williams; and Louis Santamour; two daughters, Sherri Marquand and Laurie Cishek; one brother, George Harman and wife Wilma; a sister, Joan Espenshade and husband Carl; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Doris Donmoyer. Funeral Services will be Monday at 11:00am at the West Nicholson United Methodist Church with services by Pastor Margaret M. McCarty. Interment will be held in the Nicholson Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 5 - 8pm at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. Garrett (Garry) John Conover, of Factoryville, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Community Care of Dunmore with his loving wife of 45 years, Evelyn, and son Garrett (Gary) by his side. Garry was born December 25th, 1944, in Trenton, NJ. He is the son of Ruthe Conover, Myerstown, Pa; and the late John G. Conover. He graduated in 1963 from Central High, Pennington, NJ. Garry attended Keystone College and graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan; and also the Pennsylvania School of Banking and the American School of Banking. After graduating, Garry and his wife moved back to PA and built a home outside of Factoryville. Garry first worked at that time for the newly opened J.C. Penny’s at the Viewmont Mall in the position of assistant manager. He made a career change in 1971 when he worked his way up through banking; first as teller at the Bank of Dalton and then Manager of the Bank of Archbald. He went on to be the CEO and Vice President of the 1st National Bank of Nicholson. Later he was the CEO of the 1st National Bank of Jessup until the bank merged into the Jermyn Bank. In 1991, Garry joined the law firm of Oliver, Price, & Rhodes, serving as the office manager until his retirement in September of 2009. Garry loved fishing and always took great joy in the fishing times he had with his grandson, Jacob. He loved playing cards and board games with his youngest grandson, Dillon. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, woodworking, gardening, and his extensive Bonsai collection Garry was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. Garry was very active with the Boy Scout Troop #175 of Factoryville, serving as Assistant Scout Master and Treasurer. He also served on the Board of Director’s for Tyler Memorial Hospital, The Wyoming County United Way, The Salvation Army, and Board of Independent Bank’s of Susquehanna County. He also was a member of the Nicholson United Methodist Church. He served on the Administrative Board and was auditor for many years, Garry enjoyed singing in the church choir, baking and selling the church’s Welsh cookies, and helping out at the annual turkey supper. Garry is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his mother, Ruthe; son, Gary and his wife Lisa; two grandsons, Jacob and Dillon; a sister, Gail Malsbury; a brother, Jim; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00am in the Nicholson United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor John Shaffer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nicholson United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the Factoryville Ambulance Association. Raymond F. Tiffany, age 91 of Brooklyn Township, died Sunday at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. His wife, the former Ruth Clark, died in 1986. Born in Brooklyn, he is the son of the late Ralph and Pearl Pratt Tiffany. Prior to retiring he was employed at Singer Link-Lockheed Martin in Binghamton, NY and also worked at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna as a transportation driver. Raymond is survived by one son, Roger Tiffany of Brooklyn; two granddaughters, Stephanie Tiffany and Marie Summer; two great grandchildren, Michael Conklin and Ashley Conklin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Aletha Tiffany and Agnes Keller; a brother, Richard Tiffany; and a sister in law Clema Tiffany. A memorial service will be held Sunday May 26th at 10am in the First Universalist Church of Brooklyn with services by Pastor Ralph Christianson. Gertrude Schack, age 84, of Hop Bottom died Saturday at home. Her husband Alfred H. Schack Sr. passed away in 2005.
Born in Hop Bottom, she is the daughter of the late George and Marion Kerr Holly. She was a member of the Hop Bottom United Methodist Church and a Golden Star member of Prosperity Chapter 83 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hop Bottom. Gertrude was a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed being outdoors with the spring flowers. The family extends a special thank you to her caregivers from Ascera Care Hospice and to Penny Bills. She is survived by one son, Alfred H. Schack Jr. and wife Bambi of Hop Bottom; one brother Phil Holly and wife Marilyn of Montrose; a brother in law Kenneth Schack and wife Marianna of Framingham, Mass.; one grandson Benjamin Schack of Hop Bottom, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson, with services by Pastor Phillip Richardson of the Hop Bottom United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in the Squiers Cemetery, Hop Bottom. Stella Mae Bryant Olive of Nicholson, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania died Wednesday May 8th at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock, Pa. She was predeceased by her husband William Torrance Olive. Stella was born the 18th of December, 1929 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee to the late Charles (Charlie) Elwood Bryant and Bertha Mae Ray Bryant. Mrs. Olive worked as a caregiver to children and the elderly in Nicholson for ten years. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Even though she lived most of her life in Pennsylvania, she never left her southern roots. She always called Cookeville, Tennessee home. She is survived by five daughters, Nancy Olive Aiello and son in law Nick, Shirley Olive Michaels and son in law Paul, Denise Olive Dohoney and son in law Jack, Elizabeth (Beth) Olive, and Wanda Olive Wilbur and son in law Jim; one son Brunswick Olive and daughter in law Nancy Cooper Olive. All of her children live in Pennsylvania. She is also survived by two brothers, Howard Bryant and wife Reba of Cookeville Tenn., and Thurston Bryant and wife Eleanor of Concord, CA.; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Brenda Gail Harris, and two brothers Estel and Charles Bryant. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2pm in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson with services officiated by President Richard Brock from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will be held in the Nicholson Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 12 noon until service time. In lieu of flowers, Stella asked that donations be made to the Nicholson Borough Park Fund or the Nicholson Fire Company.
