 Elsa Casella, 82, of Nicholson, Benton Twp., died Wednesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 2003. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, daughter of the late Godfried and Anna Lesser Hanson, she enjoyed gardening, knitting and cooking Danish recipes, and doing scratch off lotto tickets while enjoying white wine. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on the second floor of Moses Taylor Hospital, Debbie, Latoya and Sarah, and also a special thank you to the hospice nurses, Candace and Tamara; she really loved you. Elsa is survived by three sons, Johnny Casella and wife, Tina; Steven Casella and wife, Bobbi; and Allan Casella; a daughter, Helen Filipski and husband, Edward; 13 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Benedict; and a grandson, Tony Casella. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Charles H.  Robert Carpenetti, 66, of Nicholson and Milton, died Monday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
His wife is the former Penny Walker, and they have been married for 46 years. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Mariano and Helen Golomboski Carpenetti. Before retirement, he was employed as a technician for Proctor and Gamble and also worked for Lewisburg builders. He was a member of the Escapees R.V. Club, Montandon American Legion and the 40/8 of Milton. Robert is also survived by two daughters, Connie Natichak and husband, John, Nicholson; and Bobbie Lewis, Erie; two brothers, Leo and David; two sisters, Monica Turner and Pat Carpenter; and two grandchildren, Austin Robert Gregory and Alysha Gregory. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson.  Lyman D. Williams, 89, of Nicholson; Lathrop Twp., died Wednesday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton.
His wife is the former Ruth Collins. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Aug. 28. Born April 29, 1928 in New Milford Twp. he is the son of the late Glenn E. and Edith L.Whitney Williams. He attended New Milford High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War Period. He was a 57 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nicholson; a 53 year member of the Hallstead American Legion Post 0357, Elk Mountain V.F.W. Post 8488 and a 49 year member of the Union Grange 152, Lathrop Twp. He worked as a truck driver for A.C. Crossley Lumber Co. and as an over the road driver for Oneida Motor Freight for 17 years until a heart attack caused his early retirement. Lyman enjoyed his family and family get togethers, hunting, fishing, and telling stories (some fiction) and visiting his friends at the Nicholson Diner. He had a great sense of humor and was in his glory if he could make someone laugh. He has now gone home to his Lord. A special thanks to the fourth floor staff of Allied Skilled Nursing Center for their care and compassion. Lyman also is survived by two sons, Michael and James; three daughters, Cheryl, Sandra, and Virginia; two sons-in-law, Alvin Slater and Bradley Wescott; four grandchildren, Jennie, Marsha, Michelle, and Jessica; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeced in death by a brother, James A. Williams and a grandson, Christopher. Funeral services by Pastor Leslie Bullock will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and also an hour before the service on Wednesday. Eleanor Oakley, 102, of Nicholson died Saturday at the Mountain View Care Center in Scranton.
Her husband, Norman, died in 2013. Born in West Nicholson, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Eva Edwards Cairns. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nicholson for 74 years, serving as an elder, trustee and Sunday school teacher. She was the leader of the Tuesday Craft Club for 28 years and attended the Blakely Schools and the Powell School of Business. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Floyd, Kenneth, William and Edward and five sisters, Ida, Charlotte, Dorothy, Olive and Ruth. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson.  Clyde Very, age 69, of Nicholson died Sunday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
His wife is the former Eleanor Wulff. They would have been married 50 years on June 3. Born in Dimock, he is the son of the late Clyde and Elva Snyder Very. Clyde was a retired award winning Stockade building contractor. He also was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Nicholson Fire Company, Nicholson Masonic Lodge #438, National Frame Builders Association and the NRA. Clyde is also survived by a daughter, Bonnie Very Reed of Nicholson; a son Danny Very of Nicholson; two sisters, Ann Marie Townsend and Linda Ross; a half brother Lyle Very; step brother Chuck Caitlyn; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Jean Garcia. A Funeral service by Rev. Richard Sperring will be Saturday at 11am in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Lathrop Twp. A viewing will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Leland Clarence Sickler of Nicholson died Saturday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Smith. They would have celebrated 65 years of married life June 13. Leland was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Eaton Twp., son of the late Clarence and Ethel Brown Sickler. He was a member of the Green Grove Pilgrim Holiness Church, serving on the board and a Gideon member. He also was a Nicholson Twp. supervisor and a lifetime farmer, overcoming a handicap and daily pain. He died peacefully giving clear testimony of a loving relationship with his Lord, Jesus Christ. Leland is also survived by two sons, Daniel and Dean; three daughters, Laurie Strong and Lynn and Gail Wilson; siblings, Elizabeth Sickler, Grace Rogers, Clara Traver, Carol Chisenhall and John; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Doris Garinger, Carl, Joe and Pearl. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Green Grove Pilgrim Holiness Church, 2001 State Route 374, Nicholson. Interment will be in the South Eaton Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson. Donations may be made to the Green Grove Pilgrim Holiness Church.  Richard G. Squier, age 82, of Nicholson, died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Centerin Scranton.
His wife is the former JoAnn Bartell. They had been married for 45 years. Born in Nicholson, he was the son of the late Glen and Marjorie Luce Squier. Before retirement, he was employed as a project engineer for Procter and Gamble. He was amember of the Nicholson United Methodist Church and was a Navy veteran, having served on the U.S.S. Pine Island in the Pacific. He also was a member of the Wyoming County Historical Society and the Nicholson Fire Company. Richard is also survived by one son, Richard Jr.; a daughter, Karen Squier; two sisters, Jean Seamans and Leah Emmons; two half-sisters, Sue Sane and Chris Salsman; nieces and nephews; and his two cats, Chester and Matthew. He was predeceased by a brother, Jake, and his stepmother, Betty Squier. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
