Veronica Rita Hay, 86, of Hop Bottom passed away on Thursday October 23rd, 2025 at the Tunkhannock Rehab & Health Care Center.
Born in Brooklyn, NY she is the daughter of the late James and Veronica Carey Hay. Veronica was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Patrick Church and a member of the Red Hats of Nicholson. She also was a volunteer lay minister at Tyler Memorial Hospital and was a supporter of the Lunch Box program. Prior to retirement she worked for AIG as an insurance underwriter. She truly appreciated the beauty of nature. Driving through Maine and New Hampshire, especially the Kancamagus Highway, as well as fishing in Florida were places she held dear. Above all, Veronica loved her family and the closeness they all shared. Veronica is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Jay) Bradley and Vanessa Bean; grandchildren Greg (Lisa) Bradley, Jared (Melissa) Bradley, Sarah (Tunde) Bradley, Timothy (Miryha) Bradley, Derek (Jillian) Bradley, and Aja Garringer; great grandchildren, Daren, Emilia, Malakai, and Willow; and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial performed by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun will be held at 11am on Monday November 3rd in the St. Patrick Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery in Queens, NY at a later date

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amy Pompey Murphy, who was called home by our Lord and Savior to be reunited with her husband and best friend, Matthew. Amy departed this life on October 8, 2025, at the age of 49 while at Allied Hospice in Scranton, PA during a very brief battle with cancer.
Amy was born in November 1975. She was the proud mother of her three sons, John, Tristan and Lucas. Amy had a successful career in the food service industry. During that time, she managed and co-managed several restaurants, mentored many employees and gained numerous friends. She also managed the trucking business owned by her and Matthew prior to his untimely death. Amy was a carefree spirit known for her sense of humor, a loyal daughter, mother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, doing art projects, camping and hiking in the mountains of Utah and snuggling with her beloved cat, Mooshie. Amy’s involvement with her Belegarth community contributed significantly to her overall happiness and brough her great joy. She deeply cherished her best friend, Cheyenne, who had become a sister to her from the time they first met while in elementary school. Amy devoted the past few years of her life by returning to her childhood home to help care for her aging parents along with her brother and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew, her grandparents, and her uncle, Dominic Pompey. Amy is survived by her parents, John and Barbara Pompey, her children: John Jones (fiancé Courtney Burns), Tristan Jones (fiancé Sadie (Fearless) Long), and Lucas Jones; her brother, James Pompey (Lori); her sister Victoria Hyatt (Martin); her aunt, Judy Pompey; uncle Edward Pompey (Marlene), her nieces, nephew, great nephews, great niece, cousins and many friends. She will be missed by many but her memory will continue. The family would like to thank the Allied Hospice care team for the compassion and kindness they displayed during Amy’s short tenure there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in Amy’s memory. A celebration of life service will be held on October 25 from 4 to 6 pm at Charles Litwin Funeral Home in Nicholson, PA 18446. Elmer Richard Beebe Sr., 80, of Factoryville, passed away peacefully in the evening hours on October 14, 2025, at Community Medical Center in Scranton after a long illness.
His wife is Carrie M. Beebe and they celebrated 57 years of marriage on April 14. Born in Scranton he is the son of the late George A. Beebe and Ruth C. Dymond Beebe. Elmer was a very proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. As a proud small-business owner, he was the proprietor of Elmer Beebe Contracting and took pride in work well done in his community. He was a talented builder, musician, horseman, and devoted animal lover. He had the gift of gab and spoke his mind without filter, always candid, witty and true to himself. He loved singing and playing guitar, riding horses, tinkering with tractors, antique vehicles, bowling, visiting with friends and family and caring for animals, especially his faithful companions Opie and Sabrina the Chihuahua. His humor, steady hands, and generous spirit brought joy to family and community. He built with his hands, and sang with his heart. Elmer is also survived by his children, Penny Sarnosky (Beebe) and Elmer Beebe Jr.; Elmer Jr.’s wife Donna Beebe (Brecht) of Nicholson; his grandchildren, Cody, Tristan, Brianna, Preston, and Grayson; his great-grandchildren, Eliyah, Hazel, and Brayden; his brother, Albert Beebe Sr.; and many other loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service in the Starkville Cemetery at 11am on Monday, October 20th. A celebration of Elmer’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to local animal shelters in Elmer’s memory. Daniel Harry Spencer Sr., 85, of Nicholson passed away Wednesday October 15th at his home.
His wife is Joyce Zielkowski Spencer and they have been married for 62 years. Born in Nicholson on the Spencer legacy farm, he is the son of the late Clifford and Margaret Sikos Spencer. In his youth Dan worked for the Trail Implement. He saved his hard-earned dollars and purchased his own family farm where he raised his family and worked the rest of his career. He was a longtime member of the PA Farm Bureau. He loved to collect tractors and was a huge fan of John Deere and Allis Chalmers. He enjoyed all his animals, especially his cows, pigs, chickens, and cats. Dan was a farmer to the bone. He loved his family very much and worked very hard to provide for his family. Dan is also survived by his children, Thomas, Daniel Jr. (Bonnie), Donald, Mary (Rufus), and Kimberly (Bruce); grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, Paige, Austin, Abigail, Madisyn, Monica, and Eric; great grandchildren Bella and Wayne; sister Diane (John) Wood; brother, Kevin Spencer, brother in law, John Yuhnick; and cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Spencer; and two sister in laws, Diane Spencer and Diann Yuhnick. A viewing will be held on Friday October 17th from 6-8pm in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. A Blessing service, performed by Father Arbogaste Satoun, will follow Saturday October 18th at 11am in the funeral home. Family and friends may call from 10am until service time. Interment will be private in the Nicholson Cemetery. Spickerman, 71, of West Nicholson passed away at Geisinger CMC in Scranton on October 7, 2025.
His wife is Glenda Spickerman and they have been married for 23 years. Born in Deposit, NY he is the son of the late Frank and Agnes Page Spickerman. Charlie worked for many years at Carl Rogers Auto Repair and Cross Country as a mechanic. He also spent many years working in the stone quarry industry. Charlie enjoyed outdoor activities. He liked to hunt, fish, camp and ride ATV’s. Classic and antique vehicles were held in high regard with Charlie. He was a man who could fix anything and was a very well-known fellow in the truck pulling circuit. Above all Charlie loved his family and his beloved furry companion, Miss Belle. He loved the time he could spend with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He truly loved being a dad and Pop Pop. Charlie is also survived by three daughters, Tina Smith (Joshua), Laura Spickerman (Frank Smith), Ashley Churla (Daniel); two sons, Charles C. Spickerman Jr., Joseph Vernon (Krystalle);12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Kalinowksi (Jerry); and sister-in-law, Debbie Spickerman, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Karen; stepfather Gilbert Carey, sister, Helen; and brothers Bruce, Harry, John, Fred, Frank, and William. As per Charlie’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on October 18, 2025 starting at 12 Noon at his residence.
