 Mary Elizabeth (Wulff) Wadge Oakley passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 29, 2026 at Gracious Living Assisted Living in South Montrose.
Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Elvira (McCullen) Wulff. Mary was born on December 21, 1934 in the White Mills area. She resided in Nicholson most of her life and for the last few months she resided at Gracious Living in South Montrose. She was the oldest of eight children. Her siblings were sister Patricia and her husband the late Thomas James; sister Rose and proceeding her in death her husband Michael Dubrachek and Don her companion; sister, the late Theresa and husband Lloyd Smith; brother, the late John Wulff; sister, Elizabeth and her husband the late Taylor Hortman; sister, the late Eleanor and her husband the late Clyde Very; and brother, Edward Wulff and his wife Jeannette. Mary had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Proceeding her in death was her husband Arthur Wadge Sr. whom she had seven children with. Also proceeding her in death was her husband Ivan Oakley whom she had two children with. She was also preceded in death her companion of many years, Robert Kenyon. Mary had nine children, son Arthur Jr. and his wife the late Joan (Teserovitch), their four children Sherry, Valerie, the late Arthur III, and Stacey; son, the late Anthony, his six children Jason Wadge, Jeremy Hopwood, Anthony Jr. Catherine, Tessa and Patricia; son Allen and wife Deb their four children, Jennifer, Jodi, Jessica and Justina; daughter Beth and husband Richard Schirg their three children Jared, Brent and Sarah; daughter Mary and husband Walter Kordek and her daughter Amber McSpadden; son Andrew Wadge; daughter Kathleen, her four children Kristopher, Dustin, Brittany and Eric; son the late Derreck Oakley and wife the late Stacey their two children Alexis and Kevin; daughter Dorothy (Oakley) and husband Keith Jenkins, Dorothy’s two children Ashley Mason and Patrick Mason. Mary has many great grandchildren. Mary was a member of the ILGWU as a seamstress in many garment factories throughout her life. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Nicholson where she taught Sunday School and was a Eucharistic minister. Mary belonged to the Sunday Night Bowling League at Belvedere Lanes in Nicholson for many years, she enjoyed this activity, afterwards the friends would play cards. Mary had many hobbies, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was very talented at taking patterns and making something beautiful. She also liked to read, she got a book swap started with her sisters, daughters and friends. She also liked to put together jigsaw puzzles. Mary liked to garden, whether it was a vegetable or flower garden she would be out there pulling weeds or planting some new thing. Mary enjoyed going to The Great Bend/New Milford Senior Center where she enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. We would like to thank the staff at Gracious Living for the loving care they gave her while she was there and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the loving care they gave her. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Mary’s name.

 John J. Pompey, 90, of Nicholson, PA was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday March 25, 2026. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara; his son, James and wife Lori; his daughter, Victoria and husband Martin; his brother, Edward and wife Marlene; his sister-in-law, Judith; grandchildren Samuel and wife Rachel, Lyndsey and husband Kevin, Anna and husband Kevin, Rachel and fiancé Brent, John, Tristen and fiancé, Sadie, and Lucas. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Camden, Graham, Isaac, Benjamin, Elliana and Theodore, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his cherished dog, Bo.
John was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He approached life with warmth and kindness, never meeting a stranger. Before his illness, John found joy in riding his Quad to visit neighbors, relaxing in his favorite rocking chair on the porch while catching up on the latest news, or sitting under the shade of his favorite maple tree reminiscing and sharing stories of days gone by. John proudly served in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division. His commitment to his country was evident throughout his life. He carried the values of dedication and service with him in everything he did. John was passionate about hunting and enjoyed watching sports, often sharing these interests with friends and family. Known for his generosity, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. John was preceded in death by his parents, Romolo and Pauline Pompey, as well as his youngest daughter, Amy, and son-in-law, Matthew. He deeply mourned the loss of his best friend and brother, Dominick, who was also his business partner with Pompey Stone. Their memories remain cherished within the family and community. Although he will be deeply missed, John's memory will live on through his smile, his stories, and the echo of his laughter. His influence and presence continue to inspire all who knew him, ensuring that his legacy endures. Viewing and funeral services are entrusted to Charles H. John’s final interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Nicholson, PA, following the funeral service.  William Herbert Herron, 78, of Nicholson passed away on Saturday March 21, 2026 at Geisinger CMC in Scranton.
His wife is Linda Haussler Herron and they have been married for 56 years. Born in Scranton, Bill is the son of the late George “Wes” Wesley and Ella Jeffers Hanna Herron. Bill was a lifelong resident of Nicholson and member of the Nicholson United Methodist Church. He graduated from Lackawanna Trail in 1965. He spent many years working in the family business, Nicholson Lumber, alongside his father, Wes, and his son, Bruce. Bill also had a passion for photography. With Linda at his side, they worked together operating a successful wedding photography business for many years. He was an avid reader and was always learning. He had a knack for technology and was a Ham radio operator. William is survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Bruce (Michelle) Herron; a grandson, Evan (Brittany) Herron; a granddaughter, Emily (Stephen) Wilczek; and a great granddaughter, Lilah Herron. A memorial service performed by Rev. Micheal Bealla will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 2pm in the Nicholson United Methodist Church. Family and friends may call from 1pm until service time. Marie Christine Fornicola, 72, of Nicholson passed away at home on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with her family by her side after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Her husband is Dominic Fornicola. Marie was lucky enough to spend the best 15 years of her life with her soulmate and best friend, Dominic. Born in Scranton and raised in Dunmore, Marie is the daughter of the late James and Victoria Nevoso Dervas. Prior to retiring, Marie worked many jobs over the years but was most proud of her days as a nurse. She had a green thumb. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds fly about her beloved garden and watching all her plants grow with success. She was a great cook, loved her dogs, and enjoyed traveling as much as she could with her husband. Marie enjoyed a good book and her crime shows. Most of all, Marie loved her family and had great pride in being Nonnie and Ma to not only her grandchildren but also many others. Marie is also survived by her children: Rachel (Kevin) Hibson, Chris Wilmarth, Jeffrey (Bridget) Carpenter, Timothy (Amanda) Carpenter, Robert (Angela) Carpenter, Jessica Fornicola, Dominic (Sharon) Fornicola, Robert (Melissa) Fornicola, Zoe; grandchildren, Liam, Lilah, Zachary, Emmie, Pierce, Preston, Paisley, Aubrey, Aleia, Ricky, Isabella, Xavier, Greyson, Kayelynn, Evalina, and Hunter; mother in law, Bernie Fornicola, special brother and sister in law Larry and Darlene Fornicola, a nephew, James Dervas, and many other family and close friends. She was predeceased by her brother, George Dervas; and her dogs, especially Mariah. A Celebration of Marie’s life will be held at a later date. She is the widow of Ken Smith and Elbert Seamans. Born in Susquehanna, Pa. she is the daughter of the late Wilbert and Evelyn Westgate Travis. Prior to retiring to a life on the farm, Linda worked hard as an over the road truck driver. She loved her farm and the life that came with it. She had many “pet” cows and enjoyed wildlife especially deer and her favorite birds, cardinals and doves. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Travis. A private memorial will be held at a later date.  On Tuesday, the 17th of February 2026, Warren Cosner Sr. of Hallstead, PA saw the light of the oncoming train at the end of his tunnel (he passed away at Sayre Memory Care). Many knew him as a lifelong lover of trains, his granddaughter, and root beer floats.
Born of Lawrence and Madeline Cosner of Clarks Summit, PA. He is predeceased by siblings, Paul, Joann, and Thomas, his wife Esther, and son Jeffery. He is survived by his son Warren Jr (Rosemary) Cosner, granddaughter Angela Cosner, and brother Bruce (Karen) Cosner. Prior to the closure of Nelson Ellis Furniture Company in Hillcrest, NY he worked there for over 57 years. He loved traveling to see his granddaughter and going on train rides with his family. Every year Warren and Esther went to Knoebels with his son’s family. Warren enjoyed riding and watching the train there, having root beer floats at The Old Mill after playing mini golf, and then watching shows at the bandstand. At his request, he will be cremated and a celebration of life will be hosted before his and Esther’s internment in the spring in Hallstead.  Mrs. Clara Jean “Clare” Frost Gredlein, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Embrace Hospice House, with her loving and devoted family by her side. She was the widow of the late Walter E. Gredlein, Jr.
Born March 16, 1928 in Windsor, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clarence L. Frost and the late Lovisa Carpenter Frost. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gredlein was also predeceased by her sister, Lena Frost Ward. Mrs. Gredlein is survived by her children, Jane E. Chanaca and husband Dr. John Chanaca of Conway, SC, and Craig A. Gredlein and wife Elaine of Scotrun, PA and Mesa, AZ; her grandchildren, Mark D. Chanaca and wife Jenny of Conway, SC, Joel P. Chanaca and wife Traci of Conway, SC, Christina Carroll and husband Keith of Mesa, AZ, Cheryl Buchanan and husband Nelson of Xenia, OH, and Daniel Gredlein and wife Brittany of Mesa, AZ; eleven great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. Mrs. Gredlein read through her Bible every year for more than 30 years and now has seen her Savior of those Bible pages face to face. No doubt, she has heard His precious voice say, “Well done good and faithful servant”. She was a loving, kind, gentle, and selfless lady who shared those qualities with her family and all who knew her. She loved to bake cookies for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren but also enjoyed teaching them how to bake alongside her. Graveside services, officiated by Rev. Thomas Micklo of Scranton P.a. Also survived by 13 Great-grandchildren. Known as "ma" to many. She was a kind and loving soul, and was loved by everyone that knew her. She was tough when she needed to be, but was funny, loving, caring and loyal to a fault, everyday of her life. While only 6 of us were her biological children, she was mom to countless others. Her heart was HUGE and she always made room for one more. She wore many hats during her life, but the one she was most proud to wear, was her momma hat. On good days, bad days and every minute between, she never took that one off. She took it with her when she left this earth, and I know she's proudly wearing it today. Adopted at the very young age of 3, she searched her entire life for her biological family. 5 years ago, she found her brothers. 2 years ago, she found her "Big" sister, countless cousins, nieces and nephews. While overjoyed with all of her findings, her "Big" sister Gail became her best friend. She spent the last year of her life laughing, loving and learning all about her, and even some about herself. 65 years is a long time to catch up on, but they did it! We all knew when we heard her laughing and whispering into the phone, it was "sister time". Her heart was full and she finally felt complete. She is already missed so much, but we are finding comfort in knowing she is at peace, and in no more pain. She is loved beyond measure, because she loved without measure. May she forever rest in peace. We all love you, Joann There will be no services at this time. There will be a celebration of life, for family and friends in the near future. Date to be determined.  Harry L. Spickerman, 56, of Tunkhannock passed away on February 8, 2026 after a long courageous battle with cancer at Tunkhannock Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Born in Scranton, he is the son of Linda Ross and the late Harry H. Spickerman. Prior to his illness, Harry worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed the outdoors. He loved water skiing, riding ATV’s, and playing pool. His most passionate hobby was backroad pickin’. Harry is survived by his mother, Linda Ross; three sons, Tyler, Kyle, and Austin Spickerman; a sister, April Rosengrant; his aunt Donna Kalinowski; nephew and niece, Matt and Mindy Loch; and many cousins. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Tunkhannock Rehabilitation & Health Care Center for the exemplary care provided to Harry during his stay.
