Stacey Oakley, 47, of Kingsley passed away Saturday, February 20th at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Her husband is Derreck Oakley and they have been married for 27 years. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Wade and Shirley Vosburgh. She was employed as a mail carrier for the Montrose Post Office delivering on the Springville route. Stacey is also survived by her daughter, Alexis Oakley; son, Kevin Oakley; sister, Cathy Vosburgh; brother, Ryan Spadine; and a niece, Tasha Vosburgh. She was predeceased by a brother, Tal Spadine. Her wishes were to have no services.

Josh “Manzer” Manzer, 27, of Nicholson, passed away Feb. 15 after a long, courageous battle following a motorcycle accident.
Born in Tunkhannock, he was the son of Adam Manzer and Donna Brecht Manzer. Josh graduated from Mountain View High School and enjoyed the carpentry vo-tech program. One of his proudest moments is when he and his best friend took first place in district wrestling which earned them a banner with their names on it that hangs in the gym. Manzer was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and riding anything with wheels. Josh was employed at Treesmith’s as a utility arborist and loved his job. He had the biggest heart and was the most patient teacher. Family was number one for Manzer and he was a friend to anyone, especially the underdog. Josh is survived by his parents, Adam; Donna and fiancé, Elmer; a sister, Brandi and his best friend and brother-in-law, Craige; his joy, nephew, Lawson; paternal grandmother, Margaret and husband, Jack; uncle, Glenn; and cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by grandparents, David and Janet Brecht, and Floyd Manzer. The family will have a private funeral service with a celebration of Josh’s life at a later date this summer. Sharon Elizabeth Brooks Barnes was born August 8th, 1962 to Walter Brooks and the late Gail (Rosser) Brooks. She was a graduate of Elk Lake School class of 1980. Sharon is survived by her husband Thomas Barnes, son Eric Pearson with Nichole and their children and Brandon Barnes living in Springville, PA. Also surviving are Chris and Nita Barnes and family; Sarah and Sam Hollenbeck and family; Tim and Lynda Daggers and family; Danielle and Ethan Headley and family; Brother Don Brooks and Kristen and family; Billy and Wanda Brooks; and many other family members. Sharon loved her whole family. If a baby needed to be quieted down, give that child to Sharon and sound to sleep the baby would go. Farm life is what the family did together, caring for whatever the needs may be for the day. Her Avon brought her into many homes, but it wasn't just orders she delivered, but a vibrant conversation while sipping on some tea and enjoying the friendship of whosever home she was in. Sharon was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church, always ready to help out in any way. She also participated in numerous activities and jobs giving each agenda her all. She will be missed as a caring daughter, adored wife, loving mom, energetic grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. Doris Dymond Schenck, 95, of South Gibson, PA. born January, 7, 1925 died December 22, 2020 at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing facility.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by husbands, Walter Holtsmaster, Paul Papke, and Albert Schenck; children Walter Holtsmaster and Marsha Violetti. She is survived by daughter and son in law Patricia and Fred Benson; son and daughter in law Gary and Carol Holtsmaster; son and daughter in law Frank and Kaye Holtsmaster ,daughter and son in law Marlene and Larry Dean; son and daughter in law James and Mary Jo Dymond; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends to many numerous to list. A private service will be held at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, December 31, 2020 with a memorial service to be planned when we can all gather safely. Pearl A. La Rue, age 80, of Dimock Twp, formerly of Nicholson died December 22, 2020 at home. Her husband Harry passed away in 2005. She was a member of the West Nicholson United Methodist Church.
Pearl is survived by a son, Steven, and two daughters, Beverly Plum and Shirley Jenkins, and grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Harry and Timothy; a daughter, Maryellen Gannon, seven brothers, and four sisters. The funeral services were private with interment in the Nicholson Cemetery. Anthony F. Diaz, 60, of New Milford, Harford Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020.
Born on July 20, 1960, Anthony "Tony," was the son of the late Manuel and Maria Diaz. He graduated from Elk Lake High School and participated in many Special Olympics events. Tony lived and worked on the family farm and was a member of St. Patrick Church, Nicholson. In 2014, Tony moved to the caring residential community of Pathfinder Village in Edmeston, N.Y., just outside of Cooperstown, where he enjoyed a level of independence and freedom to live his own life. The family would like to express deepest appreciation to the Pathfinder staff for embracing Tony with excellent care, kindness, and support. Tony was a gentle and loving person who always had a smile, and "everyone was his friend." He had a passion for policemen, firefighters, and superheroes. Tony was very patriotic and always saluted people in uniform and the flag. He loved being with family and friends, and especially enjoyed music and singing, sports, Pepsi and Mc Donald's, "Hogan's Heroes" and "Mash". He will always be loved and missed. Tony is survived by four sisters; Cecelia Zammito, Lakeland, Fla.; Josephine Diaz, Allentown; Gloria (Vince) Conway, Kingsley; Catherine (Garry) Foltz, New Milford; and four brothers; Maurice, New Milford; Manuel, Jr., New Milford; Benedict, Nicholson; and John, Kingsley . Also, sister-in-law Gwenn Diaz, and brother-in-law, Charles Stankevich; favorite Aunt Solange Fernandes and cousin Joe Nunes, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Maria A. Adeline Marie Fallon, 63, of Kingsley, Pa., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 24, 2020, after her battle with breast cancer for the past seven years.
Adeline was born Oct. 6, 1957, in Edison, N.J. She is the daughter of Mary Gowen (Kress) and John Gowen. She was a graduate from Mountain View School District and earned her associate’s from Keystone College. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom, where she presided as president for eight years. She was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and founder and chairperson of Christian Aids Awareness. She also put together VBS and plays for the church community. She was also a member of South New Milford Baptist Church where she greeted others at the Welcoming center, especially during the Southern Gospel Concerts. She retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital in 2014. Adeline enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, being involved with church activities and having people at her home. She loved going on cruises and trips. She liked reading mystery books and hosting Bible studies. She was fond of her plants and took care of them. She made it a point to reach out to others who were going through a similar battle and to spread the Gospel of the Lord. Adeline leaves behind a husband, Duane; a son, Christopher; two aunts; several cousins; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Gowen (Kress) and her father, John Gowen; and her sister, Mary Gowen. A memorial service will be planned in the near future. Kletsko, 69, of Nicholson, died November 15, 2020 at home.
Born January 11, 1951, Larry was raised on his family's farm in Springville. He graduated from Elk Lake Sr. High School and was a long-time employee of Donald Dean & Sons where he crafted furniture. Most recently, Larry enjoyed spending time vegetable gardening and tending to his beloved colony of cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Petras Drabik) and Andrew; his sister Rose Ann Banko and his half-brother Michael Drabik. He is survived by a brother Robert (Deborah); his children Christine Lynn (Joshua), Marissa Young (Zak); grandchildren Isabella, Zachary, and Declan; and Donna Kletsko (Schuler), the mother of his children. Special thanks to the neighbors and friends he left behind. No services have been scheduled at this time. Smith, 66, loving husband and father of three children, of Nicholson, passed away unexpectedly in Belleair Beach, FL on Saturday, November 7, 2020. He and his wife Nancy A. Smith would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on December 26th.
Born May 11, 1954 in Scranton, Craig is the son of the late Francis and Ruth Francis Smith. Upon graduating from Abington Heights High School, Craig completed his bachelor of science degree from Bloomsburg University while serving as a noble member of the Delta Omega Chi fraternity in 1977. After completing his education, Craig joined his father and brother in their family business, Francis Smith & Sons. FS&S was started by his grandfather in 1936. With hard work and determination, Craig became company president. Together he and his work family endeavored tirelessly to grow and expand FS&S and Smith Air Center. Craig was a founding member and past president of the Tank Installers of Pennsylvania, member, and past board director of the Petroleum Equipment Institute. By 2015 FS&S had outgrown its Chinchilla roots, relocated to Scott Township, and added Smith Industrial Solutions to the Smith family companies. Finally, after 40 years, Craig passed along the family legacy to the 4th generation and partially retired to spend more time with the love of his life, Nancy. Together they loved to travel to Belleair Beach, cruise around on their boat, and fish at Lake Winola. They enjoyed spending time with friends, but most importantly loved spending time with their grandchildren. Misten Lister!! Craig had a unique sense of humor with an arsenal of jokes as deep as the line at the Nicholson Potato Pancake Stand. He was born in Yankee pinstripes, bled Giant’s blue, and got a green thumb at 66. Indycar grabbed his attention and he cherished sharing the sport with Nick and Nancy. When he was home, he enjoyed sitting by his pond watching his fish and frogs. He was a member of Nicholson Masonic Lodge #438, the Nicholson Athletic Association, and board member of the Nicholson Heritage Association. He also is a proud supporter of the Nicholson Fire Company, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, and Interfaith. Craig continued the tradition of supporting and sponsoring a team in the Abington Little League for over 50 years. Craig was truly a family man and loved his work. One of his favorite events was the company Christmas party. He always led the celebration with a memorable act that will never be duplicated. Craig left a lasting impression “pull my finger” on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by so many. Craig is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children; Nicholas Smith, Eddie Ware Jr. (Erin), Dana Edwards (John), Tank, and Hershey; a brother, Bill Smith; two sisters, Carol Ann Saar and Connie Leavsley; grandchildren, Beau, Carson, and Sam Ware & Addison and Benjamin Edwards; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters; Claudia Rebuth and Carol Granville. The family will receive calling hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a private service at 3:00 on November 21st at Francis Smith and Sons, 26 Sams Road, Scott Township in the lower building. Joan Geraldine Smith Sickler, born April 10,1932 to the late Marshall and Eunice Deats Smith, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 3 at home. Her husband Leland passed away in 2017.
Joan was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, and the Gideon’s Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Waverly High School. She enjoyed drawing, painting, gardening, and entertaining her children’s friends in her home. She was a great help on her husband’s dairy farm. She’s survived by her children: Daniel (Kathie), Dean (Marjorie), Laurie (Doug) Strong, Lynn (Ron) Wilson, Gail (Ivan) Wilson, nineteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her sisters Faye Matthews and Elaine Mack; brothers Marshall and Calvin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 11 am at Lynn and Ron Wilson’s home, 85 Rogers Lane, Tunkhannock, PA. Interment will be in the South Eaton Cemetery.
