Frank V. Carpenetti Jr., 83, of Nicholson, died April 23 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. His wife, Marilyn Ross Carpenetti, died in 2020.
Born in Scranton, he is the son of the late Frank Sr. and Mary Golomboski Carpenetti. He was a Procter and Gamble retiree and United States Army veteran. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, archery and canning. He enjoyed cowboy and pioneer movies and comedies. He will be missed by family and friends. Frank is survived by a daughter, Denise Caesar and husband, John; three sisters, Louise Schab, Evelyn Doria and Leona VanWert; two brothers, Eddie and Charles Carpenetti; two grandchildren, Michael and Brandon Caesar; and two great-grandchildren, Lori and Josiah Caesar. There will be no services. Arrangements by the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson.

Boyd Raub, 83, of Kingsley, died Thursday at home. His wife, Rose Jones Raub, passed away in 2012.
Born in Lenox Twp., he is the son of the late Sylvenus and Ruth Gumaer Raub. He was a member of the Acre Lake Independent Baptist Church and was a Proctor and Gamble retiree. Boyd is survived by four sons, Mark, Timothy (Laurel), Thomas and Micah (Jennifer); a daughter, Ellen Robbins; three brothers, John, Louis and Phil; two sisters, Beverly Raker and Ann Lippolis; and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, David. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Acre Lake Independent Baptist Church with services by Pastor Sherman L. Skeens. Interment will be held in the Tower Cemetery, West Lenox. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Her husband of 19 years is Thomas Kilmer. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Kenneth Fowler and Grace Rozelle Weber. Jean graduated from the Montrose Area High School and prior to retiring performed clerical duties for various auto dealerships. Jean also attended the Peckville Assembly of God Church. Jean is also survived by two daughters, Jennifer Kerr Murphy and Taylor Kilmer; two sons, Nicholas Washburn and Joseph Monteforte; a stepdaughter, Ashley Kilmer; a stepson, Myles Kilmer; two sisters, Eleanor Johnson and Marie Santarelli; a brother, Thomas Gallagher; nine grandchildren, Callan, Kennady, Olivia, Abel, Braeden, Lainey, Colton, Payton, and Cameron; and her closest friends, Lori, Debbie, and Jacki. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Fowler. There will be a viewing from 5-7pm Tuesday, April 6, in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson immediately followed by a funeral service by Pastor Terry Drost of the Peckville Assembly of God. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of Teresa Wademan and the late Donald Cummings. She is a 2012 graduate of Mountain View High School and was employed at Crowd Cow in Dunmore. Melody is also survived by her fiancee, Ryan Smits; her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Shirley Novajosky; uncles Eddie and Rick Wademan; and her extended family in Pennsylvania and New York. She was predeceased by an aunt Yavonne Lysak and cousin Clyde Hutchins III. A celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date. Theodore Oscar Zech, age 86, of Nicholson passed away Sunday, February 28 at home. His wife, Ruth Delores Seeley Zech, passed away in 2003.
Born in Scranton, he is the son of the late John and Florence Pegg Zech. Prior to retiring he was employed as a forklift driver at RCA in Dunmore. He was an Air Force veteran and served in Korea and Saudi Arabia. He also was an avid hunter and loved his dogs Buddy and Holly. Ted is survived by a son, Theodore Zech Jr. (Jennifer); four daughters, LuAnn Rogers (Duane), Tamela Kelley (Dale), Jodi Zech, and Janice Stankiewicz (Jeff); son in law Robert Sturdevant; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nadine Sturdevant; and four grandsons, Brian, Bradley, and Ryan Sturdevant and Lucas Mitchell; a sister, Edith; and a brother, John. There will be a graveside funeral service with military honors Saturday, March 27th at 11:00am in the Nicholson Cemetery. A graveside service will be held in the Nicholson Cemetery a later date. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801 Thomas Leslie Remington of Lakeside, Lathrop Township, died unexpectedly Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 70. Tom was born in 1950 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late Frank and Lillian Schultz Remington. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1968.
Tom joined the United States Marine Corps in 1972 and was stationed in Okinawa and Thailand during the Vietnam era. He married Elaine Forba of Tunkhannock in 1973. Tom and Elaine spent the remainder of his six years of service in Quantico, VA and Camp Lejeune, N.C. where their daughter, Jennifer Leslie Remington was born in 1976. Tom graduated from Keystone Junior College with a degree in accounting. He retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot in 2008. He was a longtime member of Sons of American Legion, Honor Guard, and Gardner Warner Post #154 in Montrose, PA. He especially enjoyed restoring an antique 1968 pick up. Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine; sister, Marcia Belles, Spartanburg, SC; brother, Fred Remington of Tunkhannock, PA; son in law, Mason Taube; granddaughters, Linda and Katie Taube, Hockessin, DE; and several nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Remington Taube. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stacey Oakley, 47, of Kingsley passed away Saturday, February 20th at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Her husband is Derreck Oakley and they have been married for 27 years. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Wade and Shirley Vosburgh. She was employed as a mail carrier for the Montrose Post Office delivering on the Springville route. Stacey is also survived by her daughter, Alexis Oakley; son, Kevin Oakley; sister, Cathy Vosburgh; brother, Ryan Spadine; and a niece, Tasha Vosburgh. She was predeceased by a brother, Tal Spadine. Her wishes were to have no services. Josh “Manzer” Manzer, 27, of Nicholson, passed away Feb. 15 after a long, courageous battle following a motorcycle accident.
Born in Tunkhannock, he was the son of Adam Manzer and Donna Brecht Manzer. Josh graduated from Mountain View High School and enjoyed the carpentry vo-tech program. One of his proudest moments is when he and his best friend took first place in district wrestling which earned them a banner with their names on it that hangs in the gym. Manzer was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and riding anything with wheels. Josh was employed at Treesmith’s as a utility arborist and loved his job. He had the biggest heart and was the most patient teacher. Family was number one for Manzer and he was a friend to anyone, especially the underdog. Josh is survived by his parents, Adam; Donna and fiancé, Elmer; a sister, Brandi and his best friend and brother-in-law, Craige; his joy, nephew, Lawson; paternal grandmother, Margaret and husband, Jack; uncle, Glenn; and cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by grandparents, David and Janet Brecht, and Floyd Manzer. The family will have a private funeral service with a celebration of Josh’s life at a later date this summer. Sharon Elizabeth Brooks Barnes was born August 8th, 1962 to Walter Brooks and the late Gail (Rosser) Brooks. She was a graduate of Elk Lake School class of 1980. Sharon is survived by her husband Thomas Barnes, son Eric Pearson with Nichole and their children and Brandon Barnes living in Springville, PA. Also surviving are Chris and Nita Barnes and family; Sarah and Sam Hollenbeck and family; Tim and Lynda Daggers and family; Danielle and Ethan Headley and family; Brother Don Brooks and Kristen and family; Billy and Wanda Brooks; and many other family members. Sharon loved her whole family. If a baby needed to be quieted down, give that child to Sharon and sound to sleep the baby would go. Farm life is what the family did together, caring for whatever the needs may be for the day. Her Avon brought her into many homes, but it wasn't just orders she delivered, but a vibrant conversation while sipping on some tea and enjoying the friendship of whosever home she was in. Sharon was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church, always ready to help out in any way. She also participated in numerous activities and jobs giving each agenda her all. She will be missed as a caring daughter, adored wife, loving mom, energetic grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. Doris Dymond Schenck, 95, of South Gibson, PA. born January, 7, 1925 died December 22, 2020 at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing facility.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by husbands, Walter Holtsmaster, Paul Papke, and Albert Schenck; children Walter Holtsmaster and Marsha Violetti. She is survived by daughter and son in law Patricia and Fred Benson; son and daughter in law Gary and Carol Holtsmaster; son and daughter in law Frank and Kaye Holtsmaster ,daughter and son in law Marlene and Larry Dean; son and daughter in law James and Mary Jo Dymond; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends to many numerous to list. A private service will be held at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, December 31, 2020 with a memorial service to be planned when we can all gather safely. |
