Diane Jane Raub, 65, of Kingsley died July 3, 2020 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton.
Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of John and Jane L. Wheeler Raub of Kingsley. She worked in banking and attended the Acre Lake Independent Baptist Church. She is also survived by two sisters, Susan Raub and Candy Jean Statts. There will be no services.

 Dominick G. Pompey, “Dom,” 80, of Nicholson passed away Monday, June 29. He was married to his wife of 52 years, Judith Pompey.
Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Romolo and Pauline Pompey. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he played baseball and served for six years. Dom enjoyed working with his brother and best friend John in Pompey Stone for many years. He loved coaching his daughter’s softball teams, he was the best coach they ever had. He also loved going fishing and hunting with his grandchildren. He was a devout and dedicated New York Yankees fan. The highlight of his later years was going to Florida to watch Yankees spring training with his son-in-law, Dave. Dom was a great story teller with an infectious laugh and exceptional sense of humor. He made everyone smile that knew him. Dom is also survived by his four daughters, Dawn Strickland and husband, Sam; Deborah Botscheller and husband, Dave; Danielle Pompey; and Judith Oliveira and husband, Amaury; grandchildren, Olivia, Charlie, Connor and Natalie; two brothers, John and Edward Pompey; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends; and his beloved dog, Elliot. A funeral service, celebrated by Chaplain Jay McCracken, will be Friday, July 3, at 6 p.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson Please be aware seating and capacity will be very limited during the service in order to properly social distance. There will be viewing and calling hours from 3 p.m. until service time.  Anna Pashchuk, 94, of Nicholson, died Saturday at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock.
She was the widow of Harry Michael Pashchuk, who preceded her in death in November, 2002. Anna was one of five children born to her beloved parents, Tessie Senishan Kurey and Michael Kurey, in Taylor, Pa., in Sloan Patch on May 20, 1926. She attended West Side Scranton schools. Anna was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 56 years; and her four brothers, John, Michael, Stephen and Eugene Kurey. She is survived by her beloved children: son, Paul Pashchuk and wife, Beverly; daughters, Audrey Massaker; Carol Huggler and husband, Bruce; sister-in-law, Margaret Kurey; 11 grandchildren, Jenny, Kathy, Paul Jr., Gretchen, Jason, Tasha, Alex, Lisa, Brooke, Erika and April; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, Anna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna was a longtime member of the West Nicholson United Methodist Church and Loyalty Society. She worked as a seamstress in Scranton and Nicholson, but her primary occupation was as a farm wife and loving mother/grandmother to her family. She worked hard alongside her husband on the farm cooking, baking, gardening, canning and sewing. Holidays were a special time when she would cook delicious traditional Ukrainian dishes such as pierogis, machanka, halupki, paska bread, kolachi and poppyseed rolls. She loved cardinals, humming birds and watching Lawrence Welk, Pennsylvania Polka and wrestling on TV. She loved to tell her stories of growing up in Taylor, marrying and moving to the farm and raising her children. She was a caring soul who always inquired about family members who each held a special place in her heart. She always seemed to provide the most helpful words of wisdom and advice when needed and was our biggest cheerleader. She was strong-willed and feisty. As we said of her golden years, her mind was pretty sharp, but her tongue was sharper. Her family believes she was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother ever and she will be greatly missed. Her legacy is that she loved and cared deeply for her family and they love and care deeply for her. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Gus Wellings, 83, of Nicholson, died at home on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020.
Prior to working for the Tunkhannock School District, Gus worked for shipping industries in New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He graduated from Harvard with a BA in Economics and a Master Degree in International Trade from the European Research Institute. Gus’ many passions included classical music, pistol and black powder shooting, woodworking, bee keeping, antiques, farming, gardening, and socializing. He loved to share his passions with others. He loved his family greatly. He was preceded by his parents, Augustus Joseph Wellings and Rose Standish (Bradford). He is survived by his loving wife, Karin, Children: Barbara Klabunde (husband Steven M. Klabunde) and Monica M. Wellings (husband Roman G. Politi), and Augustus Joseph Wellings III (wife Faith (Sands)), and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be private under the direction of the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. The family would like to thank the support of the neighbors, Allied Hospice, and friends. Matthew M. Damiano (Grader Guy) of Nicholson died Thursday at home. His wife is Irene Bubacz Damiano and they would have been married 17 years on September 6.
Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Romayne Schwab Damiano and the late Martin R. Damiano. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Overfield Twp. and was a member and cantor of St. Patrick Church in Nicholson. He was a 1973 graduate of Old Forge High School. He formerly trained and drove harness horses. He was also a member of the Endless Mountain Antique Power Association and he loved driving the road grader. Matthew is also survived by three sisters, Joan Kane, Linda Damiano, and Karen Stahler and husband, Terry; three brothers, Robert Damiano and wife, Sarah; and Jeffrey and Thomas Damiano; and two nieces, Kate and Ryen Stahler. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Arbogaste Satoun, will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Nicholson. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. There will be a viewing Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Patrick Church, P.O. Janet Lois Albert, born December 14, 1937 left to be with the Lord on June 1, 2020. She was married on September 12, 1959 to Daniel Albert Sr. and they resided in Kingsley for 45 years after relocating from their hometown of Langhorne, Pa.
Janet was born in Nanticoke, Pa. to the late Stewart and Anna Stewart of Wapwallopen, Pa. She is the youngest of three siblings. She was predeceased by a brother, Stewart Stewart Jr. and survived by sister in law Aileen, of Dushore, Pa and survived by sister Pearl and brother in law, Jerry Stemrich, of Wapwallopen, Pa. Janet is a 1957 graduate of Newport Township High School. Janet and Daniel raised five children together at their home in Kingsley. Sons, Daniel D. Albert Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Kingsley, PA and Darrin D. Albert and wife, Darlene, of Bailey, N.C. ; Daughters, Dulcey D. Albert of Lenox, PA., Jody L. Albert and fiancé, Dennis, of Selma, N.C., and Sandra Albert of Kingsley, PA. and a son in law, Charles Church and wife, Cassidy, of Hallstead, PA. Janet is also survived by ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Janet was a light in lives of all who knew her. She was special to many and loved by even more. She was adventurous, positive, and compassionate. Janet put all of that love and compassion in everything she did; from her amazing flower beds, to her Dale Earnhardt collections, to her love of country music. If fun, laughter, and smiles were involved, you found Janet. The hearts and souls left behind will forever carry a piece of her love inside until we all meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held at a private location to honor Janet at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Donna Ann Uscowskas, 75, of Springville, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Sunday at home. Her husband is Albert Uscowskas Sr. and they have been married for 56 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Eleanor Falkowski Hawter. She was a graduate of Scranton Tech with high honors and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Church in Nicholson. Donna was a terrific wife and mother. She was always smiling and would help anybody she could. She loved Jesus and was a woman of faith. Donna is survived by two daughters, Debi and Dawn Uscowskas; a son, Albert Uscowskas Jr.; and three grandchildren, Jeremy, Darius, and Gage. A private Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Arbogaste Satoun will be held Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church in Nicholson. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Zeme Jr., 75, of Nicholson, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020 at Community Medical Center.He was married to Arlene Kiryluk Zeme and they would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on August 4.
Born in Manhattan, NYC on October 17, 1944 to Anthony J. Zeme Sr. and Veronica Zalewski Zeme. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where he served as a lector and choir member. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School and received his BA degree from The Penn State University with an English major and theater minor. After graduation, he began his teaching career at Elk Lake High School from 1966 until his retirement in 1999. While at Elk Lake, he taught English, Advanced Placement English, Gifted Drama, Introduction to Drama and Mass Media. He also was the drama director from 1966-1999 directing fifty eight productions, both musicals and straight plays. Bravo! He was the founder and first president of Community Theater of Tunkhannock Inc. putting on plays such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Camelot, and The Crucible. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association from 1966-1999, president of the Elk Lake Education Association from 1979-1988 and PSEA Northeast Region Instruction and Professional Development Chairman from 1983-1995. Whether it was Europe or the US, Tony loved traveling. He loved going with his family to the beach, to every mini golf course on the East Coast, and the place he enjoyed the most, NYC, showing his love of Broadway. When he wasn’t traveling, he enjoyed sitting on his deck, using his pool and playing his favorite solitaire game. He preferred his martinis “shaken not stirred”, usually while solving a crossword puzzle. He always said, “It’s 5:00 somewhere”. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Kiryluk Zeme, his son, Christian and his wife Kaitlyn of Forty Fort, his sister Jeanne Shupp of East Lemon, niece Tina Shupp of West Palm Beach, FL, granddaughter Olivia Noelle Zeme, aunt Margaret Gingher of Tunkhannock, and numerous cousins. A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at a later time. The Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home of Nicholson is assisting with arrangements. A Sincere thanks is extended to the staffs of the Factoryville Fire Company EMS and Geisinger CMS. Helen Oakley, age 95, of Nicholson died Sunday May 10th at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock.
Born in Lathrop Township, Susquehanna County she is the daughter of the late Arthur Johnson and Bessie Squires. Prior to retiring she worked at Bendix-Allied Signal in South Montrose. She was a member of the Union Grange #152 for 82 years. Helen loved baking and was known for her cinnamon buns. She spent Sunday mornings with her late sister, Peggy Farnham, where she could catch up on the news with her niece and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her great great grandchildren and where would Wayne be without her telling him what to do for SCCD. Helen is survived by three sons; Wayne and wife, Debbie; Ricky and wife, Karen; and Ivan Jr.; one daughter, Kathy Aldrich; thirteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by a son, Tracy; two sisters, Peggy Farnham and Ila Tague; and two grandsons, Kristopher Oakley and Rickey Oakley Jr. There are no services scheduled at this time. Kim D. Williams age 63 of Nicholson, Lenox Township, died Thursday May 7th at the Abington Manor in Clarks Summit.
Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of Donna Belcher Williams and the late Howard Williams. Prior to retiring she was the owner of an industrial painting supply company in Denver, Colorado. Kim is also survived by her son, Ian Wallace; her companion, Joseph Wallace; her three brothers, Mark, Jeff, and David Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will take place a later date. |
