 Shirley Jean Pritchard, 82, entered into her rest peacefully at her place of
residence in Monroe County, PA on June 5, 2024. She was born in Kingsley, PA to the late Addison and Anna Wagner. Shirley is survived by her sister Mary Stevens, her son David Pritchard Jr. and wife Mary Beth, her daughter Janet Buxbaum and husband Douglas and their three children Bryan, Jonathan, and Matthew, one great grandchild Hazel, and as well as other nephews, nieces, and extended family members. She was predeceased a brother, Richard Wagner, and a sister, Ella Decker. Shirley loved God and lived a quiet simple life and enjoyed shopping and attending church services. She was known to be a very positive, cheerful, and encouraging person in her interaction with others. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 1 to 3 PM followed by a short celebration of life memorial service at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicolson, PA 18446. Interment will be held at a later date at the Maplewood Cemetery, Kingsley, PA.

 William R. Shaw, 79, of Tunkhannock passed away Saturday, June 1 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born November 14, 1944 he is the son of the late Russell and Helen Demsky Shaw. He graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School in 1963 and was drafted into the Army serving from 1965 through 1967 receiving medals in marksman, good conduct, and national defense. William was a career truck driver. He enjoyed building trucks, wood working, lawn mowing, and his family. William is survived by a son, Russell (Dawn) Shaw; daughter, Lisa Thomas; granddaughter, Kelcie Shaw; brother, Robert Shaw; sister, Pat Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Rogers. As per William’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be held in the Deckertown Cemetery, Lathrop Township.  Bonnie Jeanne Brainard, 81, of Kingsley passed away May 18th peacefully at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
She was born September 4, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is the daughter of the late Jeanne Dodge and John T. Dodge. She graduated from Benton High School in Fleetville and continued on to do Cosmetology. She loved gardening, flowers, animals, and playing cards with her friends. Bonnie is survived by her children; Mark Millard and wife Angela of Scranton, Cheryl Clark of Aripeka, Florida, Kevin Brainard and fiancé Crystal of Kingsley, Peggy Woosman and husband Bob of Hallstead, Tommy Brainard of West Palm Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Jocelyn (Ian Owens), Kyle, Taryn, and Spencer Millard, Rebecca Clark (Walter), Whitney and Brianna Brainard, Michael and Matt Woosman, and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Judith Tyriw, husband, Ivan W. Brainard, and daughter, Connie Brainard Teixera. We would like to give a special thanks to Peggy and Bob Woosman for opening their home up to her and taking care of her in her moment of need! A brief service will be held on June 22, 2024 at 10:00am at the Kingsley Methodist Church.  Louis M. Spadine Jr. passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Nicholson, PA.
Born March 28, 1945 he is the son of the late Louis Spadine and Anna Paschuk Spadine. Louis enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and visiting the local casino. Louis ran a dairy farm for 50 years with his father and two brothers. He then sold the dairy cows and raised beefers for the last 19 years. Louis is survived by his sisters, Jean Spadine, Anastasia Gaus, and Lorraine Greek; his brothers, Samuel Spadine and Lawrence Spadine; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Cole. A mass of Christian burial celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun will be held Friday, May 17, at 10am in the St. Patrick Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson. Friends and family may call from 6-8pm Thursday in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. Interment will be held at a later date in the St. Michael’s Cemetery in Starkville.  James Stanley Costigan, 72, of Nicholson, Lenox Township passed away Saturday May 4, 2024 at Geisinger CMC in Scranton.He is survived by his wife is Mary Murphy Costigan and they were married May, 5 1973.
Born in Philadelphia, he is the son of the late Angeline Cirone Costigan and James Herbert Costigan. Prior to retiring he was a truck driver and a member of St. Pius X in Royal. Jim loved to fish, work on his cars and boats, and collect flashlights. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his daughters; Rosemary Costigan, Sarah Costigan, & Angeline McCarthy; grandchildren Brianna Jones, Andrew Shumski, Seamus Fish, Maryrose Costigan, Connor Namiak, Gabrielle McCarthy, & Emily McCarthy; great grandchildren Emmarose Costigan, Ryley Jones, Evelyn Jones, Chloe Wages, and Jameson Costigan; a brother, Anthony Costigan, and a sister, Rosalie Muffler. He was predeceased by his sisters Patricia, Jackie, Maria, and Angeline. As per the wishes of James, there will be no services. N9MCKCUS0060RJW  Frederick William Heller Sr., 85, of Hop Bottom passed away Thursday, May 2 peacefully surrounded by his family. His wife, Carol Jane Heller, passed away in 2010 and they had been married for 47 years.
Born in Scranton, he is the son of the late Charles and Clara Olsommer Heller. Bub was an Army veteran who served at Ft Bliss Texas. He received a good conduct medal, was a marksman in carbine and a sharpshooter in rifle and prior to retiring spent many years as a hard working truck driver. Fred loved to work. He enjoyed running delivery for Sherwood, passing time at the casino, and playing the lottery. Most of all he loved the time spent with his family and cherished being with his grand and great grandchildren. Frederick is survived by daughter Dorleen Manzer (Mike) and grandson Mick; daughter Danine Sharpe (John) and grandson J.J.; son Frederick W. Heller Jr. (Colleen) and grandsons Kyle (Kenny), Matthew, and Zackery; son Charles Heller (Melissa) and grandkids Jacob (Kyleen, great grandchildren Kynlee and Conner), Delaney, and Joseph; and daughter Jolene Heller and grand daughter Kayla; brother Augie and sister Sue. He was also predeceased by three sisters and one brother. The family would like to thank HHCP especially Nurse Judy. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be May 25 th , 2024 from 2-4 pm at the Charles H. Litwin Funeral, 91 State Street, Nicholson with a sharing of memories at 3:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude’s or the Hop Bottom Hose Co.  John William Edwards, 82, of Fleetville, died April 16th at his home. Born and raised in Fleetville, the son of the late Richard and Dolores Edwards. John was a graduate of Benton High School. He was born and raised on the family farm where he worked most of his life.
Surviving are four sons, John and Dana Edwards, Factoryville, Keith Edwards, Fleetville, Christopher and Casey Edwards, Fleetville, and Michael Edwards, Fleetville. Also, survived by grandchildren, Holden, Carter, Alana, Addison, Benjamin, and Evan. A Memorial service will be held Friday from 6pm to 7pm at Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson, PA 18446.  Jeanette Chaparro, 63, of Hop Bottom died Tuesday at the Meadow View Rehabilitation and Health Care in Montrose.
Born in Red Bank, New Jersey she is the daughter of the late William and Martha Meyer Bonkoski. She was formerly employed as a home health aid. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister who loved her family very much and was very dedicated and loyal to her friends. Jeanette is survived by a daughter, Melissa Ann Belasco (Kenneth); two sons, Andrew Chaparro (Chelsea) and Nicholas Chaparro; four grandchildren, Anton Belasco, Kai and Shiloh Chaparro, and Alivia Chaparro; four sisters and two brothers; and her long term friend, Lenny Olivero. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Lila S. Loch, 85, of Springville passed away Monday March 4 at the Oak Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Taylor.
Her husband, William E. Loch, passed away in 2022. Born in Springville, she is the daughter of the late Max and Martha Reed Springer. Prior to retiring she worked at the Montrose Hospital and Medical Arts Clinic for 62 years where she held several positions including bookkeeper. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom and its women’s guild, a member of the Springville Ladies Auxiliary, a former Boy Scout leader of Pack 97 Springville, and also helped with Girl Scouts. Lila is survived by one son, Alan Loch (Julie); two brothers, Bob Springer (Barb) and Paul Springer (companion Pat); sister in law, Nancy Loch; two grandchildren, Brandon and Emma Loch; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services by Pastor Steven R. Geske will be Saturday March 9 at 11am in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson followed by interment in the Tyler Hill Cemetery in Springville. There will be a viewing from 10am until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Springville Volunteer Fire Company or the Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom. Roy R. Silfee, 71, of Kingsley, PA passed away Thursday February 29 at home.
His wife of 49 years is Linda Kishbaugh Silfee. Born in Scranton, he is the son of the late Gilbert and Anna Patrick Silfee. Prior to retirement Roy worked as a mason. He will always be remembered and greatly missed. Roy is survived by a son, Joseph Silfee; a stepson, Victor Gromadin; two brothers, Robert and Paul Silfee; five sisters, Jean Balmer, Esther Norris, Barbara Conklin, Sarah Gontz, and Joyce Michaels; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Troy Silfee, and six brothers and sisters. It was Roy’s wish that there will be no services. |
