Daniel N. Squier, 67, of Springville died Sunday, December 25 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
His wife is Kathy Cokely Squier and they have been married for 47 years. Born in Meshoppen on January 17, 1955 he is the son of the late Clifton and Lillian Noble Squier. He was an Air Force veteran and proud to be a farmer. Dan loved his wife, children, grandchildren and friends dearly. He was always willing to help anyone and if he had something to say, he would say it. He collected International Harvester farm equipment and was a Dodge fanatic. Dan is also survived by three daughters, Brandy Teel, Danielle McMicken, and Amanda Pierson; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Jason; two brothers, Frank and Jesse; and a sister, Isabell Smith. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1pm in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. Interment will follow in the Jason Squier Cemetery. Viewing hours are Friday 11am until service time.

Franklin K. Rood, 83, of Nicholson died Thursday December 22 at Abington Manor in Clarks Summit.
His wife is Linda Squier Rood and they have been married for 55 years. Born in Lenoxville, Franklin is the son of the late Herbert and Madeline Conrad Rood. Frank was well known for making recut saws for stone quarry work and for his blacksmith work. He enjoyed his orchard and growing plants in his greenhouse. Frank is also survived by a sister, Irene Harding. He was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Herbert, and Lindley; and four sisters, Janice Antoine, Donna Valentine, Linda Griffin, and Nellie Stanton. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Factoryville Ambulance. Dona L. Warner, 86, of Clifford Township passed away Friday, December 9 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband, James D. Warner Sr. died in 2011.
Born in Harford Township, she is the daughter of the late Ivan and Florance Whitney Brainard. A special thank you goes to her great granddaughter, Katelynn Taylor for her loving care. Dona is survived by two daughters, Kim Payne (Dale) and Debbie Strawn; a sister, Sue Borowicz; a brother, Ronnie Brainard; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Will and Donnie; two daughters, LouAnn and Racine; two sisters, Arneta Sanauskas and Lynnette McAlla; and two brothers, Ivan and Lynn. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home with services by Rev. William R. Hagenbuch. Interment will follow in the Clifford Valley Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 1pm until service time. Robin L. Miles Griffin, 50, of Nicholson, PA, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. Robin was born in Passaic, NJ, on March 1, 1972, to the late Ron "Papa Smurf" and Mona Miles.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Walter Griffin Jr., her sons Brian Keller Jr. and Brandon Griffin, her grandson Roland "Rolly" Keller, her sisters Cynthia (Gary) Mancini and Sherry LaGreca, and her two cats Lunatic "Lunar" and Fluffy. Robin never met a stranger. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her kind heart, generosity, and larger-than-life personality. There were few things she loved more than her grandson, or any cat that crossed her path. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 17 by Rev. Lucas Taylor at 11:00 am in the Charles H. Edward Franklin Huffsmith III, 33, of Nicholson passed away Wednesday November 23, 2022.
Born October 14, 1989 he is the son of Edward Franklin Huffsmith Jr. and Deborah Thomas Kirchoff. He was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and was employed by R.G. Petty Construction for 6 years. He loved fast cars, motorcycles of all kinds, and his dog, Baby Girl. Edward is also survived by his brother, John Huffsmith, John's significant other Diana; stepfather, Dan Kirchoff; Edwards significant other, Johnna Freeman; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Barnes, 69, of Springville passed away Wednesday November 23 at Regional Hospital of
Scranton. His wife, Sharon Brooks Barnes, passed away in 2021. Born in Hop Bottom, he is the son of the late George and Olive Stein Barnes. Prior to retiring he worked as a machine operator at Proctor and Gamble. Thomas is survived by two sons, Christopher and Brandon Barnes; two stepsons, Eric Pearson and Timothy Daggars; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Barnes; one step daughter, Danielle Daggars; two sisters, Thelma Naghy and Ann Marie Whipple; and several grandchildren. Lola Zimmerman, 87, of Clifford Twp., Pa., passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, Pa.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and David Davis. Lola is survived by her husband, John, of 68 years, son and daughter-in-law, Revs. John and Sue Hardman-Zimmerman, daughter, Lynn Butler, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ruth Davis, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Frank Politz and sister Elaine Craig. Lola graduated from Forty Fort High School. She attended nursing school and worked at Muhlenberg Hospital and Raritan Valley Hospital as well as did private duty care. She volunteered for many years on the Watchung Rescue Squad and was a member of the Watchung Fire Co. Womens’ Auxillary. Lola loved to sing and sang in many cantatas as well as in the choir at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung, NJ and at the Harford Congregational Church in Harford, Pa. Lola loved her family and her dog, Gabriel. She was a caring, loving, sweet and gentle soul who brought laughter and joy wherever she went. Her Christian faith was her guide through life and to her eternal home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson, Pa. at 2pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 pm. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Harford Congregational Church, 5016 Creek Rd., Harford, Pa. or any Humane Society. Donna Gabert, 71, of Hop Bottom, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband, Wally, died in 2017.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Genevieve Drisbaugh Drake. Donna is survived by two sisters, Linda Micklo and Karol Kudulsky; one brother, Doug Drake; a nephew, Frank Micklo; and a niece, Jennifer Beven. Health Systems in Montrose. His wife is Lila Springer Loch and they have been married for 60 years. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Emma Racibor Loch. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom and was retired from Procter and Gamble. He also was a member of the Springville Volunteer Fire Company and enjoyed hunting and fishing. William is also survived by a son, Alan and wife, Julie; two grandchildren, Brandon and Emma Loch; and a nephew, Randy and wife, Jamie. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Willard. There will be a viewing Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State St., Nicholson, followed by graveside service at Tyler Hill Cemetery in Springville. Donations may be sent to the Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom or the Springville Volunteer Fire Company. Paul Begin, 94, of Nicholson died Monday at Endless Mountains Health Systems in Montrose.
His wife, Pauline Smarkusky Begin, passed away in 2020. Born in Jessup, he is the son of the late Wasil and Mary Leshanych Begin. He was a member of the Saint Patrick Church in Nicholson and was a retired dairy farmer. Paul is survived by a daughter, Beverly Begin and her husband Robert Conrad; two granddaughters, Dana and Denise Hardisky; two grandsons, Michael and Andrew Hardisky; two stepsons, Shane Conrad and Austin Conrad and wife Kasi; one great grandson, Michael Daniel Hardisky; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Petrini; and five brothers, John, Mike, Nick, Basil, and Steve. A blessing service celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 1:00pm in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson. The family will receive friends from Noon until service time. Inurnment will be in Saint Michael's Cemetery in Starkville. |
